InterACTION Labs Pilot: Garden Technologies and Health

Project Info:

In a pilot project of InterACTION Labs | Iquitos, our team of 40+ Peruvian and U.S. students and professionals across 14 disciplines in the health sciences, built environment and ecology fields worked with the residents of Claverito to construct a 1,600 ft2 Community Entrance Garden and 28 unique Household Floating Gardens and measured their impact on human and ecological health indicators. Over one year we found statistically significant improvements in food and medicine security, mental and social wellbeing, injury reduction, beautification and trash reduction, and biodiversity.
