BHANGAL COMMUNITY STREET

From September until December, 2019, Traction provided remote support for the InterAction Nepal program sponsored by the the UW Department of Landscape Architecture, the UW JSIS Nepal Studies Initiative, the Department of Global Health, Kathmandu University, Tribhuvan University, and BOSABAS. UW and Nepali students from multiple disciplines worked with community members from Bhangal, Budhanilkantha, an urban poor community in the Kathmandu Valley destroyed during Nepal’s 2015 earthquakes. Together, they created a vision plan for Bhangal’s future development and designed and implemented the Bhangal Community Street project - a multi-functional landscape that provides improved community access, ecological stormwater management and public space for gathering and play.
