INTERACTION LABS: HOUSEHOLD FLOATING GARDENS
The Household Floating Gardens projects were implemented in phases, with the first year piloting the participatory design and construction of 28 custom floating gardens, the second year an additional 21 household gardens, and the third year bolstering household gardens as a response to severe food insecurity caused by COVID-19 shut downs. Gardens were custom designed by each household and plants were chosen for food, medicine and beauty. After one year the interdisciplinary research team found statistically significant improvements in food and medicine security, mental wellbeing, beautification and biodiversity.
