FOG WATER FARMS
Between 2015 and 2017, volunteers from AWB-S, UW students and faculty, and community members from the neighborhood of Eliseo Collazos undertook the ‘Fog Water Farms’ project with funding from the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation. The project expands upon the IUCI’s previous work on household gardens and fog collection and involves the construction of 1) a large scale fog collection system utilizing innovative fog collection materials 2) large capacity tanks to store water for irrigation during the dry season 3) the construction and expansion household gardens throughout Eliseo Collazos 4) a public park including a playcourt, space for gathering/relaxation and a series terraces planted with drought tolerant and productive vegetation 5) final assessment of project outcomes and impacts (conducted in March 2017).
